Another Swing around the District
July 27, 2008 - What an exciting way to end the month of July – three parades across the 2nd District in Rosemount (Saturday), and Montgomery and Chaska today. Rosemount was celebrating its annual Leprechaun Days. This year, to celebrate Rosemount's 150th anniversary, parade participants were asked to decorate their floats according to an era of the past. An impressive display of parade units showed their creativity.
The summer festival season wouldn't be complete without a stop at Kolacky Days in Montgomery. Several volunteers joined me earlier this morning to participate in Montgomery's annual parade celebrating the community's Czechoslovakian heritage. Many of our supporters didn't leave Montgomery until they sampled the fruity and cheesy kolackies, which have become a trademark of this parade. Kolacky Days Festival organizers should be proud. As usual, they did a job well done.
We wrapped up this afternoon by participating in the Chaska River City Days parade. Last year, Chaska was named by Money magazine as one of the top 10 "Best Places to Live in America" and after visiting there earlier today, we were reminded why. A stroll downtown Chaska by City Square Park brings to life images from Norman Rockwell paintings depicting all that is good about small town America. I enjoyed spending the afternoon visiting with kids young and old as we helped celebrate River City Days.
