VFW-PAC Once Again Endorses John Kline For His “Strong Support of Veterans”
BURNSVILLE – The Veterans of Foreign Wars Political Action Committee (VFW-PAC) is the latest organization to give their backing to Congressman John Kline’s re-election campaign.
“In addition to comments received from VFW leaders in your state, this endorsement is based on your strong support for veterans, national security/defense, and military personnel issues,” said Larry W. Rivers, the Director of the VFW-PAC, the VFW’s only endorsement body, which endorsed John Kline in 2006.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Political Action Committee is the nation’s only major Veterans Service Organization PAC. Incorporated in 1979 and registered with the Federal Elections Commission, VFW-PAC provides the 2.2 million members of the VFW, its auxiliaries, and their families an opportunity to collectively support candidates for federal office. VFW-PAC endorses only those candidates for federal office who support our nations’ veterans and stand in support of a strong national defense.
“As the husband of a career Army nurse, the father of a son who has served tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, and a 25-year Marine Corps veteran myself, I consider it one of my greatest duties in Congress to ensure we keep our promises to our veterans of today and tomorrow,” said Congressman Kline, who served on the House Armed Services Committee and is the only active-duty Marine Corps veteran in the U.S. House of Representatives. “I am both humbled and honored to receive such strong support from the millions of veterans the VFW-PAC represents. We must never forget the sacrifice made by our veterans, and we have a solemn obligation to fulfill our promises to them.”
One of Congressman Kline’s greatest legislative initiatives on behalf of veterans is “Beyond the Yellow Ribbon.” Signed into law earlier this year, Kline’s legislation establishes a national combat veteran reintegration program that provides National Guard members and their families with information, services, and opportunities throughout the deployment cycle. Congressman Kline was honored earlier this year by a “Heritage Painting,” one of the National Guard Bureau’s highest civilian awards, for his “continued support of the National Guard.” This summer, Congressman Kline successfully co-sponsored and helped steer to passage an unprecedented GI bill that improves education benefits for veterans of today and tomorrow and their families.
