| John Kline represents
the common sense values shared by the people of Minnesota's Second
District.
Before he was elected to Congress, John and his
wife, Vicky, helped manage her family's farm in Southeast
Minnesota. He knows our district and the people who live
there, and understands the problems we face.
A father, grandfather and
retired Colonel in the United States Marine Corps, John Kline's common sense
values are anchored by his faith, his family, and his love for
America.
Lifetime
of Public Service
John
Kline is uniquely qualified to serve at this important time in our
nation's history.
As
a 25-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and Military Aide to two
Presidents, John understands the importance of a strong national
defense. A member of the House Armed Services Committee,
John works closely with President Bush and the Department of
Defense on
national defense and the war on terrorism.
The
defeat of the Taliban in Afghanistan and the ouster and capture of
Saddam Hussein in Iraq have made the world a safer place.
John Kline is proud of our troops - especially those from
Minnesota - who have given their time, and in some cases their
lives, so that we can remain free and safe.
Reducing
the Federal Deficit & Protecting Taxpayers
A
strong fiscal conservative, John Kline understands how the federal
deficit, created by years of over-spending, is a threat to the
long-term health of our economy.
Some
in Washington want to raise taxes, but John knows that the real
problem is excessive government spending, not low taxes. In
March, John helped pass a new federal budget
that will cut the deficit in half in four years, hold the line on
spending and protect taxpayers.
As
a result of his work, 'Americans for Tax Reform' gave Congressman
Kline their "Hero of the Taxpayer" award.
Fostering
a Strong Economy
John's
work in both the private and public sectors has given him a
strong understanding of how government policies directly impact
our economy.
In
Washington John is fighting for policies that help create jobs
and increase productivity.
First
and foremost, that means keeping taxes low for families, small
businesses and farmers so more money stays in the economy.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce recently presented John with their
"Spirit of Enterprise" award for his work to improve our
economy.
As
a member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce,
John is also working to see that our children receive the
education and tools they need to enter the workforce and compete
in our dynamic and ever-changing economy.
